New beginnings on our farm in East Benton, Maine

  • Our Tree Planting Journey: 1200 Saplings in the Field

    April 24, 2025

With a forecast of rain over the weekend, we rushed to get these guys planted. We estimate ~1200 have been planted this season!

Special thanks to the wonderful folks who helped out!

A wide-angle landscape photo of a large field, newly planted with small trees. The field takes up the majority of the frame and is a light brown color with visible rows of recently disturbed earth. Extending from the bottom of the frame and receding into the distance, hundreds of tiny, green saplings, each no taller than a foot, are uniformly spaced in neat, parallel rows. The rows are distinct, and the saplings cast minimal shadows. In the background, a dense line of mature trees forms the horizon. Most of these background trees are deciduous with bare, dark branches, indicating early spring or late fall, but a few tall, dark green evergreen trees are interspersed among them, particularly on the left and right sides. Above the treeline, the sky is overcast with soft, diffuse light and a uniform gray cloud cover. The overall impression is one of a vast, newly planted tree farm under a quiet, cloudy sky.
Saplings were planted in rows in the field.

Moving forward, we will look to plant more trees each year!
